iLearn iGuess: Part 4

Well, I suppose I should start this off by ranting about technology.  Last night I blogged about "bump", published the post, and while doing so, firefox froze up.  So, I left the computer, came back today, and, surprise, surprise, there is no blog.  This is where I start to remember that a computer is just a tool, much cooler than a hammer, but still a tool just the same.

I'm also trying to listen to some of the past class recordings (once again in firefox), but it has been hung up "buffering" for the last 5 minutes.  I just switched the recording to Chrome and it is working without a problem...now to get back to my iPhone/iPad/iTouch review.

When thinking about social media and apps that are available for the iPhone (etc), BUMP comes to mind.  It is an app that works across platforms (iPhone, iPad, iTouch, Blackberry, Android...).  Basically you can share photos, apps, music, contacts, and calendars with anyone with a smartphone just by holding the phones and bumping hands.  That action causes data to be transmitted between those two devices.  My wife and I have tried it, and it works seamlessly.  Instead of having to email information, we can send it by "bumping".  We have successfully shared music, photos, and videos.  We were also just at my parents last weekend for their 46th anniversary, and my brother and I were able to share a video that I took of his 2 year-old son hot-tubing on my iPhone.  My brother has an android phone, but has the BUMP app, and sharing this information worked quite well.  Of course we needed to use my brother's wifi connection, but what a cool thing.

Check out BUMP at http://bu.mp/

Until tomorrow.
